NEWS: Executive Mansion Issues Clarification On Use Presidential Vehicle in Drug Raid

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader expressed her satisfaction over the swift action of the Joint Security which led to the arrest of Perry Dolo and Cyrus Slewion of the Liberia National Police, a Sierra Leonean military officer, a businessman, a taxi driver, and an ex-military personnel, at the Tiene Checkpoint, along the Liberia-Sierra Leone border. The release also clarified that Police Officer Perry Dolo is not the Head of the Presidential Motorcade of the Liberian President, as was reported. The Presidential Motorcade is a combination of the various security vehicles, which is headed by the Executive Protective Service (EPS). Furthermore, the release indicated that the vehicle marked "POLICE ESCORT," which was reportedly being used by Police Officer Dolo to transport marijuana, was an escort vehicle which was decommissioned, returned to the Liberia National Police over two years ago, and replaced by a vehicle marked only as "PRESIDENTIAL ESCORT." This vehicle is used by the police to control traffic ahead of the actual Presidential Motorcade.

Meanwhile, the Executive Mansion has frowned on drug traffickers and instructed the Joint Security to increase its vigilance in bringing all drug dealers to book.

NEWS: PERRY DOLO: The Head of Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's Presidential Motorcade (Car) in Liberia has been Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling (297KG, 654 Pounds) of Marijuana (Pot) in an Official Vehicle

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency: Perry Dolo was arrested over the weekend on November 9, 2013 with a Liberian, a Guinean and a third person believed to be a member of Sierra Leonean Military. For allegedly smuggling what has been estimated to be (297 kg green leafy substance believed to be marijuana) at the Tennie check point in Liberia in (Grand Cape Mount County) after crossing over from Sierra Leone.  According to the DEA yet again the Jeep used is "Escort 1", which normally leads President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's convoy. At the time Mr. Dolo was not on duty but he used the official car. Mr. Dolo has not yet commented on the allegation.
